Muntrie Berries (Munthari) were valued as medicine. The waxes in the fruits and leaves held antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, making them useful for wound healing and skin care. Beyond the berries themselves, families also used the plant's leaves and extracts to keep healthy during harsh winters and cold seasons.
Any surplus was pounded into a pulp, then shaped into flat cakes and sun-dried or baked so it could be eaten months later through winter. Those dried cakes were also traded with neighbouring groups, making muntries not just food, but a practical “store cupboard” and a valuable trade item.
MODERN DAY
Muntrie Berries (Munthari) are now scientifically proven to be an high-antioxidant native fruit. In published lab testing comparing several Australian native fruits with blueberries, muntries showed strong antioxidant activity, including radical scavenging activity measured at about 1.5 times that of blueberry in the study’s assay.
Antioxidants help protect cells from oxidative stress (damage caused by unstable molecules called free radicals). Muntries are also reported as containing vitamin C and a range of minerals, and their phenolic compounds (including anthocyanins) are part of what drives their antioxidant performance.

Processing & Dispatch Time
Express Post Shipping refers to the length of time Australia Post takes to deliver the parcel. Our Chocolate Factory operates on Monday - Friday during standard business hours, except on national holidays at which time we will be closed. In these instances, we take steps to ensure shipment delays will be kept to a minimum. We ship Monday to Wednesday to ensure your chocolate order spends as little time in transit as possible.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated during checkout based on weight, dimensions and destination of the items in the order. Payment for shipping will be collected with the purchase.This price will be the final price for shipping cost to the customer. Australia Post Express Post is used, in order to ensure the product reaches the purchaser in the quickest time frame possible. During these COVID-19 times Australia Post have advised that Express Post is the fastest delivery option.
Australia Post Express Post Guaranteed Delivery is for postcodes in the same Express Post Network (currently due to COVID-19 restrictions Australia Post have suspended this). As Chocolate On Purpose is in regional NSW it is unlikely we are in the same Express Post Network as you, therefore add a business day to the delivery time frames shown on the Australia Post website here: http//auspost.com.au/service-updates/domestic-delivery-updates
The Express Post network delivery guarantee only applies to delivery time frames by Australia Post NOT the time of dispatch by Chocolate On Purpose, who will dispatch within 5-business days and then the Australia Post Express Post delivery time frame applies.
A Packaging & Handling fee will be charged at Checkout, which covers use of bubble-wrap to protect, and travel-ice to maintain integrity of your chocolate, so it arrives to you in the ultimate state of yumminess!
Return Due To Change Of MindChocolate On Purpose® will not accept returns due to change of mind; misuse of the product by the Receiver; if the Receiver contributed to the problem or in the event of an occurrence completely outside of the business’ control.
