International Women's Day 2026: Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls
What if every bite of the chocolate You choose, could help balance the scales of justice for women from Africa, to South America, and through to Australia?
A Legacy of Courage and Collective Action
International Women's Day 2026 is more than a date on the calendar. It's a call to action that began over a century ago, when women around the world rose up for fair working conditions, voting rights, and equality.
In 1977, the United Nations (UN) took custodianship of International Women's Day, ensuring it remained focused on human rights, equity, and justice- not commercial interests.
This is the official artwork for International Women's Day- every year.

Which leads me to ask you to seriously consider the UN wish that International Women's Day not be commercialised, and why You must be aware & stay away from the Purple People: internationalwomensday.com. They have done the exact opposite of what the UN envisioned for International Women's Day. Every year they commercialise and 'purple wash' the day.
Angela Priestley's revealing piece on Women's Agenda tells the full story. Have a read, and then bookmark UN Women Australia at https://www.iwd.net.au, the official home of International Women's Day in Australia. Be sure to share it with your networks 🙏🏼 Let's ensure every dollar, every voice, every choice counts toward real justice for women.
"This day isn't for purple cupcakes or platitudes. It's for power, purpose, and progress."
The 2026 UN Theme: Rights. Justice. Action.
This year, the United Nations theme is clear: "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls." Because despite decades of progress, women globally have only 64% of the legal rights men hold. Discriminatory laws, weak protections, and entrenched social norms keep justice out of reach for too many. The UN is calling for urgent action to close these gaps, because rights must be lived, not just promised.
What Does Equal Justice Look Like?
- Laws that protect and are enforced for all
- End to gender-based violence and discrimination
- Access to education, economic opportunity, and leadership
- Justice systems that are survivor-centred and accessible
- Equity in renumeration and participation in recognition of knowledge
Honouring First Nations Women Through Ethical Chocolate and Real Action
For me, this year's theme echoes through generations of First Nations women.
For millennia, our women have been the matriarchal keepers of plant knowledge systems. Their wisdom lives in every native botanical that flavours our ethical chocolate. Yet, they remain largely invisible in the Australian bushfood and botanical supply chain that profits from their knowledge.
The reality is stark. Our matriarchs face racism, domestic violence, ongoing caring responsibilities, and barriers to employment. Women 45+ are particularly vulnerable, sharing the increased risk of social isolation and homelessness experienced by all Australian women in this cohort. This is not justice. This is not equity. This is not right.
The Sacred Harvest: More Than Ethical Gifting
That's why I created the Ngayirr Mudhirra ~ Wiradyuri language for "Sacred Harvest" Chocolate Bar. This bar is more than a treat; it's a tribute to the women who gather, grow, and protect our native botanicals. With every bite, you honour their wisdom and help reclaim their rightful place as leaders in the supply chain.
Crowned with the bounty of native botanicala we use in our chocolate flavours, plus a ngayirr (secret) blend of herbs and spices, Sacred Harvest is a celebration of Country, Culture, and the Ancestors who guide us:
"Ngali wudhagarbigi balumbambal-gu-bu balugirbang-gu-bu. guwiinyguliyalaa dumbali-linya murruway marambul yindyama-li dharrabu birramal nginhagu."
Wiradyuri language for: "We listen to the ancient ones and ancestors. They show us the proper path to honour bush food."
When you choose Sacred Harvest, you're not just enjoying ethical chocolate, you're helping turn the tide from invisibility to recognition, from exclusion to equity. Your purchase supports fair trade chocolate, Indigenous women's leadership, and creates real, lasting impact.
Ready to make a difference? Choose your Sacred Harvest Bar- available in White, Milk, or Dark Chocolate- and join us in action this International Women's Day.

Chocolate On Purpose: Indigenous Business Australia Leading the Way
At Chocolate On Purpose, Australia's first Indigenous-owned chocolate company, we're not just selling ethical chocolate, we're building a movement for justice. As a certified social enterprise, we reinvest at least 50% of our profits into People, Planet, and Equity. This commitment is embedded in our Corporate Constitution.
Currently, Indigenous representation in the native botanical and bushfood industries sits below 2%. Through our work, we're changing that narrative. Our commitment to fair trade chocolate, ethical sourcing, and transparent supply chains means every ingredient tells a story of respect, ngunggilanha (reciprocity), and real impact.
This year we extended our Giving Back by adding You to the equation. You can now share in the power of giving. When you shop with us, not only do You choose a 100% owned and managed, Supply Nation certified business, You get to choose where our giving goes. Your voice matters. Your choice creates impact.
Supporting Aboriginal Girls' Leadership: The Stars Foundation Partnership
This International Women's Day 2026, we're partnering with the Stars Foundation, an organisation supporting Aboriginal girls' leadership to complete Year 12 and transition into leadership pathways. Through mentorship, Cultural safety, and practical support, the results speak for themselves: 90% Year 12 completion rate, significantly higher than the national average.
These young girls are our future matriarchs. This is what justice looks like in action.

Shop for Change: Your Purchase Creates Double the Impact
From 8–10 March, we're participating in Shop for Change, an impact-focused shopping event, and we'll be doubling our donation to the Stars Foundation from every sale. For three days, Your purchase becomes Your voice, and Your voice creates double the change for the Aboriginal girls who are future.
When you buy the Sacred Harvest Bar during this campaign, you'll not only be choosing sustainable chocolate, you'll be choosing to fuel mentorship, pathways, and women empowerment gifts that support Aboriginal girls' leadership stepping into their futures. You're choosing to honour the matriarchal wisdom holders of our future.
This is ethical gifting at its finest. Every purchase supports Indigenous business Australia and real, measurable change.
Indigenous Entrepreneurship & Women Empowerment
Aboriginal entrepreneurship is thriving, yet Indigenous women entrepreneurs face unique barriers. Chocolate On Purpose exists to change that narrative. We're not just a business, we're a movement for women empowerment across supply chains, communities, and generations.
By choosing fair trade chocolate from an Indigenous-owned social enterprise, you're directly supporting Indigenous women entrepreneurs and reclaiming matriarchal knowledge systems that have sustained our people for millennia.
How to Join the Movement
Shop the Sacred Harvest Bar during Shop for Change (8–10 March) and double your impact on Aboriginal girls' leadership and Indigenous business Australia.

Thank you for walking this path with us. Together, we're not just celebrating International Women's Day 2026, we're living it.
P.S. This is our action. This is our justice. This is how we reclaim—one story, one choice, one woman at a time.
